Shaping the Skyline

Tech alumni have designed, developed and built some of Atlanta’s most iconic—and beautiful—structures. Though many of us in Atlanta see these buildings every day, here’s an uncommon perspective on the simple lines that help shape the city’s skyline.

1. Peachtree Center Towers*

*Specifically the 230 Peachtree Building (formerly Peachtree Center Tower), Peachtree Center North, South and International, the Harris Tower, and Marquis One and Two.

These structures above represent just a small sample of the impact of John Portman’s design in Atlanta; his other buildings include the AmericasMart, Hyatt Regency, Atlanta Marriott Marquis and American Cancer Society Center.

4. Atlantic Station
Location: West Midtown/Atlantic Station

Footprint: 15 million square feet of retail, commercial and residential space

5. Wells Fargo Tower

Tech Architects: Phillip Smallwood, Arch 62, Bill Reynolds, BC 61, and Gil Garrison, Arch 79, with Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart (Note: Stevens & Wilkinson, founded by Tech alumnus  Preston Stevens Sr., Arch 19,  also helped design the buildings.)
